Yes, the stock heat sink should have no problem working with this board. The CPU socket configuration takes into account HSF mounting. If the processor you want is supported by this board, the OEM heatsink that comes with it will also work on the board. (Obviously this is different for high end boards ready for specialty coolers such as liquid but, not an issue at this price point) Good luck with your rig!

The last time AMD changed their heatsink mounting pattern was in 2003-2004 when they moved from the spring-clip Socket A heatsink to the cam-lock 3.5" pitch Socket 754 and 940. AMD has used that same cam-lock heatsink for all desktop CPUs made since that time period and many server CPUs as well. It's a good design and I don't see AMD moving away from it any time soon. The fact that they're continuing to use it on their FM1 parts is very suggestive that they're sticking with that heatsink for a good long while.

Also, Socket AM3+ is physically identical in size to Socket AM3. It merely has slightly larger pin holes and a few minor electrical differences compared to AM3. It uses the exact same heatsinks as AM3.
