I have an Abit KT7A-RAID and Duron 700 on order. What CPU fan should I go with? Where is the best place to purchase said fan?

Any info is much appreciated

Toonces: That Duron 800 you have with the chrome orb..is that overclocked? Or is it a Duron 800 running at 800 @39C?
I want to overclock my CPU..so that may not be enough cooling for me

it's running at the normal 800mhz. i haven't got up the kahonies to overclock it yet. but like i said, i think the mounting clip on the orb has problems with some of the resistors on your mobo.

The BEST cooler you can get is the Agilent ArctiCooler, that is, if you can actually get your hands on it.

I like the OCZ Monster II available from OCZ.SAFESHOPPER.COM because it comes with the Comair Quiet Fan (23 CFM) and it is designed to fit the KT7 like a glove. From what I have read people are getting better results form the GlobalWin FOP-38 but I think that is mostly due to the Delta fan (38 CFM). Everyone says they are loud (some say too loud).

Read the review on coolers here at www.tomshardware.com.

Read about the monster II at www.madonion.com.

The Monster II is available with the Delta fan for the same price but you have to remember to specify it in comments. Cost $24.99 for heatsink and fan.

Whatever you choose make sure you use thermal grease/compound. Arctic Silver appears to be the best but Radio Shack thermal compound works pretty well and is only about $2 and is easier to obtain.

Thanks everyone. I have ordered a GlobalWin FOP38-1 from inflowdirect.com. I can deal with the noise. Everyone seems to be having the best results with these coolers.

Thanks again

Is anyone here familiar with STEP Thermodynamics? They sell unlocked CPU/heatsink/fan combos with the heatsink bonded to the CPU. Their prices aren't bad.

If anyone is familiar with them I'd like to know what your opinion is.
