Heya,

I'm (somewhat obviously) new to this forum. Several years ago I built a system which was (at the time) top of the line. However, long story short, I ran out of money and could only afford a cheapo Asus p5gd1-VM motherboard, which has been an absolute nightmare. The system has run horribly for 2 or so years.

So I'd like to upgrade it to something better; can anyone recommend me a motherboard which will be good with a 3.2ghz Prescott and support DDR1 ram? Cheaper is better.

I've heard good things about the MSI965 Platinum and Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, but I'm sure these don't support DDR1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Also, I definitely need to invest in some new cooling for my CPU/case/everything, as my Prescott runs at around 70*C constantly. If you can recommend some fans to look out for I will buy you cookies :)

What runs so horribly? Are you using the integrated graphics (915G) or do you have a PCI-E videocard? The motherboards you listed will not use DDR400, they must have DDR2...
