Well im happy to say my system is up and running.

Thank you everyone for your support and assistance

In the end the replaced parts were...

Mobo, Graphics Card and Memory.

Crazy I know...

I just scored a 7132 in 3dMark 06. I hope thats good. Im DLing 05 now.

See below for setup... well... close enough setup :)

The GFX card is now a EVGA and the Mobo is a A8N-SLI and the Memory is OCZ PC4000 DDR500

Real glad to hear that. I may have to start the Corsair marinating. I've seen the OCX paired with that board successfully on some other sites today. I'm still waiting for a response from ASUS and NewEgg. Things always come unglued on weekends.

Any progress LandGrave?

hey how's it going...thank god i finally found a forum for my problem.

i have almost the same exact same problem as propain. my mobo, cpu, vid card, and memory are as follows...

A8N32 Mobo
4000+ amd
1 ati xtx 1900
4 x 1 gig corsair xms
sin tek 500 watt dual pci-e

i rma'd my case because of there being faults, so i begin building again today. i'm afraid i will now have to rma my mobo, vid card, and memory like propain.

i'm going to take all the actions propain took to fix his problem but i'm looking for support in this already 2 week struggle.

3300 in parts and 0 use---i don't like this one bit.

thank you in advance.

I'm in the RMA holding pattern with the board. The tech support guys at ASUS were pretty good to deal with (502-995-0883). The basic test was to:
1) Turn the power supply switch off.
2) Remove everything from the board, except the power connectors.
3) Plug in some powered speakers at the rear of the board (green jack)
4) Turn the power supply on, then the main case power switch.

If the board is functional, the green LED will come on, and it will announce that the missing CPU is not a recognized device.

If the Green LED is off, the board is damaged or defective.

If it fails to announce the missing CPU, the board or the BIOS is damaged or defective.

If the main power switch on the front of a case is not connected, you may have to repeat the test, shorting the two pins on the bottom row that normally are connected to the power switch. (Careful to identify them correctly!) Depending on the power supply, you may have to to do that to actually get power to the BIOS and post systems, even though the green LED may be on.

This is as far as I got. It failed to announce the missing CPU. They assigned a case number and transferred me to the RMA folks, who gave me an RMA number. I FedExed the board and am waiting for the replacement.

The rest of the basic procedure looks like this:
If the board passes, then add the CPU, and it will announce the missing memory. Add the memory, and it will anounce the missing video card. Add the video card, and it should post.

So. After I get the new board, I'll need to do the rest in that order to establish that the CPU, memory and video card are intact and working properly. If not, then I guess I do another RMA with whatever other component is not working. But I don't expect that.

Slow process since I don't have known working parts on hand to swap for fault isolation. I'll post an update when I get the board :)

A common post error code on Asus mobo's is a Video error due to bad memory.

IT will post error beep Video but the memory is the problem.

Keep me updated bro...

The QA people were really out to lunch on this one… I have a similar issue.

First the Parts:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Processor Socket 939 Retail
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
BFG 7900 GTX

I bought the Mobo and CPU from ZipzoomFly, and received those from FedEX last week. While waiting on my Video Card I bought a cheap PCI Nvidia 5200 to get the system up and running…

Anyway, First attempt was with just the memory, cpu, and the video card. The first thing I noticed when turning the PC on was the CPU fan failed to turn. I quickly shutdown the PC not wanting to damage anything, and rechecked everything twice. Everything was exactly how it should be and so I fired it up again to post, and ended up with the same result. Experimenting I plug the CPU fan into one of the other board fan plugs and it spun.

I took the whole PC into the local shop where I had bought the PS and ran some test which showed the PS was just fine. After a phone call to ASUS they suggested I send it back into Zipzoomfly for a replacement.

I hate having to wait nearly 2 weeks to get a part back from mail order… I drives me crazy.

Anyway they are sending me out a replacement which should arrive sometime next week. In the mean time I have put my old board back into the box with the cheap PCI card (yes the video card works.).

Oh before I forget… The memory is good stuff (have to look at it again for the brand name), and I just bought the two 1 gig sticks last November. Before you ask, I did try using a single stick of my old DDR 333 stuff I had laying around to test.

Praying for post.

Everything spins up for a quick second and then shuts down?

If thats the case its over volt protection from the PSU. Plus in another device into the PCI slot and it should post.

The idea of the over volt protection is that the PSU must meet a minimum load before it will fire up preventing an over voltage to any device you have installed.

try it and let me know...

Yup, after my last experience with online suppliers I dont think ill ever do business online again.

I must say New Egg did handle the RMA is a very quick fashion. I will probably order small orders from them again but nothing as big as my last order.

Hey there guys...noticed this thread is 6 months old but apparently you are my last chance.
The problem is as follows:I simply cannot put a video card in the first slot.It won`t post no matter what I do.Memories fine, bios ok,cpu ok everything is going well.
At the beginning I had a 7600GT.When I bought the mobo and the video card the guy from the store told me something about that first video slot (something about incompatible thingies on the mobo) but I was very excited about my purchase and forgot what he told me.Now I bought a HD 3850 and ofc it won`t work on the second SLI slot so I tried it on the first slot.Same problem.Won`t post.I really don`t know what the problem can be.And I don`t have warranty anymore
THanks
