HI,

I am having trouble deciding on a new monitor to replace my 22" Syncmaster and have around £250-£300 to spend. I will be using it for gaming and internet browsing with a bit of word processing now and again.

I am leaning towards the Samsung p2770h though some people think that it may be too big and have also looked at 24" LED screens such as the BENQ G2420HDBL. I wouldn't mind 19020x1200 res but know the standard has changed now.

What does everyone think? Will 27" be too big, if not would this be a good monitor or is this a better alternative? Or should I go with the 24" LED screen.

Thanks for any opinions.

Well, it depends on your preferences. If you were a bit tired of the 22" monitor in terms of it being a bit small for your use and want more area, you'd probably be happier with the big Samsung 27 inch. On the other hand, if you want more detail and crispness, it would be wise to go with the 24" LED.

If there is a tech store near by, it would be worth a short trip to take a look at their display monitors to see what you think of a 27 incher or something similar in comparison to a LED based monitor.

Thanks for the input. As I only sit about 3 feet from the screen would I notice any pixellation on the 27 inch due to the fact it's the same res but a larger area? I suppose 27 isn't that much bigger than 24. It's a shame they don't do a decent 1920x1200 in that size. The only decent ones I can find are the Ultrasharp's and I can't really stretch to one of those. Plus I use it mostly for gaming so the response time isn't good enough.
