I think I'm gonna go ahead and get the XFX Radeon HD 7970 GHz Ed. I was about to pull the trigger when alsam came in. Now I'm worried lol!

There is always going to be something that comes out that will spark buyers remorse however I would say what you are doing is more economical and will be a better solution for you going foward and hey who knows maybe you will add another monitor and span 3 monitors in CF

I mean to do 3 mate. Hence the need help thread. I already have 2 of the same monitor and Nvidia doesn't support playing with 2 monitors. So getting the CF setup will and is making get a 3rd monitor by mid of march-mid April. So I just hit purchase. Screw Titan!

You will probably get a email at some point that will ask you to choose either way its more about you getting the best solution for you. Maybe what you could do is update us when you have the solution and say what you think.

Oh yeah that's true but that email won't come in anytime soon and then I will be like WTF! Anyways, thanks for the help and will send you picks or start a thread to show the cards.

A lot of people do not understand in here that 7680x1440 is a monsterous gaming resolution, your going to need all the bandwidth you can get. Your best option is to Crossfire 7970Ghz, and when you make the move to Sandy Bridge E grab a 3rd 7970Ghz. Grab a 1200watt power supply like a Corsair, Kingwin, Antec, Cougar, PC, Coolmaster Silent Pro! I would not worry about AMD or Nvidia refresh cycles they are far away and its more than likely a pair of 7970 can handle anything for the next two years even more for TriFire

Oh I know the demand for gaming on 7680x1440p. I will be waiting for Ivy Bridge Extreme is what I am waiting for since it will be on 22nm chips and more efficient and by then it should be easy to grab another GHz Ed for 3-CF if I need more power. Getting a new PSU shouldn't be an issue when time comes.

you should honestly check out the nexus forums for skyrim, especially the texture pack combiner forum, users are regularly hitting close to 4gb vram max TPC kit plus an ENB. i have a 7950 3gb on a 1440p monitor and i still have to drop my AA level because im hitting the vram max or else i will get CTD.

Skryim with STEP and TPC plus ENB max settings with 8xSSAA(supersampling) forced through the drivers on 3x1440p will crash 4gb nvidia cards, actually about 4.8gb vram used depending on the ENB if it has ambient occlusion.

only 6gb 7970s will run the game.... fps isn't the issue there.

game manufactures know this and dont want to be "shown up" by skyrim, expect well above 2.5gb vram for most AAA games within a year on a single 1440/1600p monitor.

soo.... if i were you, i wouldnt even be considering anything less than a 4gb nvidia or 6gb amd, flat out.

I don't know about that and I don't go crazy with such packs. If time comes and it calls for upgrade then I might just play using this cards for the next 3 years since they just cost me a grand and no way will I just throw them out. I will however, consider how the Nvidia Titan performs but I still need to be able to use my 2 monitors for now or it's moot for me. Hence the reason I got rid of my last GTX 670!

I also cancelled the pre-order for 900D. I will think about it when it comes out and see if it will have a great price slash up here for the first 3 weeks. I will keep it in mind and currently considering the NZXT Phantom 820 Black and FDD XL R2. Cheers and good night!
