Hi, like I said in the title I have been experiencing lag spikes, but the ping remains the same. I tried to ping 8.8.8.8 and got some packet loss:
Ping statistics for 8.8.8.8:
Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 99, Lost = 1 (1% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 43ms, Maximum = 53ms, Average = 45ms
And then I tried tracert -d 8.8.8.8 and these were the results:
tracert -d 8.8.8.8

Tracing route to 8.8.8.8 over a maximum of 30 hops

Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? (and What can I do to fix it). Thank you so much for your time!

You need to leave a constant ping run to game server or a router in the path close to the game server in the background while you run the game. You want to see if you see the problem at the same time. Lag in games can be things other than network. I would also leave a ping run to your router. If you see issues to your router it likely is some issue with the pc and not really the network.

If you see loss you can run a tracert to the game server and then leave pings run to various nodes in the path. Tracert does not run long enough to catch things so you must do it yourself. You are going to hope the loss is in hop 2..or in your case hop 3. These are in your ISP and they should be able to fix it. Most hops farther into the...
1% packet loss is pretty normal ... nothing to worry about.

Max ping time of 53ms ... seems pretty good.

13 ms and you are still on a private network??? Where are you, college dorm somewhere in the bay area or are you using a VPN?

Maybe your ping to google is low because they are down the street ... or not.

What is your average ping to the your game server?

I'm on a private network, not using vpn and in Europe. My average ping in game is 45-48ms. Even when there are lag spikes the ping doesn't move. It actually happens mostly around dinner time (18-22h) then it's stops. I'll try to test what you say bill001g. Thank you.
