Hello enthusiasts,

My old Acer V5-471P-6605 laptop is running really slow these days. It's got an Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB RAM, and a 500GB hard drive. I mainly use it for browsing with Chrome, but even with just 6-8 tabs open, it's struggling. I'm looking for some advice on how to speed it up. Should I upgrade the RAM or maybe switch to a faster SSD instead of the old hard drive? Which brand or model can I use for ram/ssd if required? Actually I am a freelancer and I need to keep 6-8 chrome tabs opened at a time on my browser.

Any help or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks a lot in advance!

matches your laptop, then a memory upgrade is pretty simple.
Crucial has upgrade parts -- https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/acer/aspire-v5-471p-6605 BUT, you can probably find used RAM cheap.
The key thing to look for is the DD3L The "L" is the key. That is low power DDR3. If you can buy two SODIMMs that are a set would be best. You can go all the way to 16GB.
What OS do you have running?

Using Windows 10 64 bit now a days ... Whats your opinion on SSD upgrades?

A ssd upgrade by itself is about the best performance enhancer that you can buy.
To make such a switch easy, plan on cloning your C drive to the new ssd.
Samsung has a good utility for this.
App and instructions here:
Other ssd vendors also offer clone utilities.
When done, repurpose the HDD as an external backup device.

Chrome uses excessive amounts of ram.
Upgrade to 2 x 8gb if you can.
