Help OC Core 2 Duo

Well, I have great tempatures, 25C at idle, 30C at load using speedfan, on stock intel heatsink/fan. My motherboard is a POS, allowing for a 266 or 333 FSB nothing in the middle. A 333FSB is only a mild overclock, and i'm sure that it can take it, but when I boot overclocked, my monitor is black, and I dont ahve onboard graphics, so idk. All the fans run and everything, its just....weird. My graphics card is a 5500FX(For Now). (PCI)

what kind of POS MB do you have?..
Ram?
When you overclock your CPU are you overclocking the PCI bus as well? might be the reason the videocard doesn't work...

I have 2GB pqi TURBO DDR2-667, and a 40mm fan running over them. I have an ECS P965T-A Motherboard, and im not overclocking the PCI frequency, its at 333/100/33 CPU/PCI-e/PCI

And the speedfan readings were wrong, but these are still good temps, 31C At idle, 37/38@ Load. I got these from coretemp.

yeh those are REAlly good temps. have u tried upping the vcore a few incremints?

I dont see how upping the vCore would get video to display, but ill try it....I hate resetting the CMOS lol.

It didn't work out. And on top of this problem my Maxtor hard drive corrupted my files.

and i hat to say it but i doubt maxtor corrupted your files...
if there is any corruption... blame microsoft...

ECS P965T-A Motherboard
2GB pqi TURBO DDR2-667 Cas-4
BFG 5500FX OC
200GB Maxtor IDE
DVD-RW Samsung
And my BIOS settings are all stock. What is Intel Speedstep? It is on by default.

Turn off Speedstep. It will seriously inhibit OCing. Have you read Wusy's guide to overclocking yet?

I think the biggest issue is these newbies starting to overclock and not understand what they are doing.
unfortunately we don't have a thread that nicely explains what all the setting are in the bios and how it effects other settings

I think it is mostly people that have never overclocked before and find that it very easy to OC a Core2Duo processor(or at last that is what they read and hear) so they get the HW and try and then find that anyone can buy a paint brush.. but not everybody is an artist.
