So I've been using my Alienware alpha R2 for a while now but recently the Wifi has started to become a bit of an issue. The place im using it pretty much has hotel Wifi and that's starting to get a bit unreliable for gaming. So i started wondering about whether upgrading the wifi card or antennas would help.
Its currently got an AC 3165 card in an m.2 slot but I'm wondering if upgrading to the intel AX200 would:
A, help
B, even be possible?
As it stands its got the laptop style of antenna but im wondering if, (though a mod like this View: https://www.reddit.com/r/AlienwareAlpha/comments/563un6/alpha_external_antenna_mod/
)
I could increase the range and stability and any speed increases would be appreciated as well.

But then I've gotten myself confused over what cable i would need to connect the new antenna to the card, and it would need to be 30cm to and i don't know if that's long enough to start inducing signals which mess up or something. And i still don't even know what antenna to use either! The intel WIFI 6 kit would have been perfect but that's out of stock right now.
To clarify I'm wondering
Would this be possible, would it actually help my WIFI and does anyone have a list of recommended parts I could use.

Bit of a long ramble post but any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

In case it helps these are the parts im currently looking at

Wifi6 will likely buy you nothing. The router you are connecting to would also have to have wifi6 support.

Even if the hotel had wifi6 it still likely will not help. Wifi6 is a little faster in some cases but games use almost no bandwidth at all so adding more will not make it run better.

Wifi6 also does not have stronger signal or more coverage. Depending how you measure it wifi6 might actually have slightly less range. It is all based on government regulation about how much power is allowed.

Maybe external antenna might help but it is hard to say how much if any. The internal antenna might be the same db rating since the one you link are very small. If you are even going to consider doing all the work it is going...

This is made much harder since you do not have control over the network.

Your problem may not be signal strength it could be too many other people competing for the hotels bandwidth. Games are the worst choice to play on wifi especially when you have no control over other users. It is going to be very hit and miss with very little you can do to improve things.

Ohh ok. if i did use something like a9dbi antenna
could that help because i could point it towards the wifi router itself, thus giving me better signal?
As for the wifi 6 thing in genral, would i be better just going for a cheaper wifi card but still geting the external antennas? And what antennas do you think are best?
sorry for the barrage of questions but i really know nothing about this stuff, so thanks for the help

From what I can tell your pc is some kind of square plastic box more like a console than a PC.

The largest issue is how do you plan to actually mount antenna connectors to the case. Its not like a desktop that you can insert prebuilt thing that holds them. You are going to have to find a way to drill holes and maybe glue the antenna mounts to the case.

You do can get directional antenna but I was thinking just larger versions of the ones you linked. This is completely unpredictable because the wifi signal bounces around and could be coming into the room form anywhere.

The card you current have should be fine to start with. If you are going to do anything I would try the antennas first. You could look for a different card but that would only be if you though yours was defective. Again your games do not care about the speed of the connection so getting a faster card will not help. Anyway most hotels run older technology because the cost to upgrade is so high so your current card may already be more advanced that what the hotel equipment supports.

Maybe a different method, look at something like
.

This is a rather expensive adapter but it shows the feature you look for in a USB adapters. You could put a longer cable on it to move it around the room. Key features is that is has large antenna and is designed to be mounted remote from the computer. They make those tiny USB things but most are low power. You can likely find another brand cheaper but this is one of the highest rated USB based wifi adapters.
