Hello. If someone could help me just a little bit here i would really appreciate it for real. Im looking further to upgrade my pc and this is the ssd part. I have a little few questions because i need to make sure that the ssd will work just correctly on my pc, i dont want to buy something that i dont even know a single thing about it. Soo as i said im looking to purchase an 480gb SSD KINGSTON as a secondary drive (i will put the links down).... But the thing is that i actually have an old case without ssd holders, i heard that you cant let an ssd floating on the pc without a bracket so i decided to get an ssd bracket together with the ssd... I opened the case just a few minutes ago and i saw all the places inside, as far as i know, i can mount the bracket ssd on the harddrive place? Right? I saw that the brackets are 3.5inches but my hdd space its around 12cm(4.7)inch... (I have Serial ATA 6GB Cables).... Now the question is, what do i need to do, will i face problems in the way? Can i mount the 3.5inch ssdbracket on my harddrive(12cm) spot... Will it work perfectly if i do? From my point of view it seems like there is no such problems like that, and i think that im just fine and ready to go. Just purchase an ssd with a bracket and mount it on my harddrive spot righthere (after that ill connect the sata cable from my motherboard and sata power from psu)... Is there anything else that i need to know before buying it? I would really be glad if someone could give me a hand here.
Thank you so much.

Solution
Yes, that bracket is made to put a 2.5" drive in a 3.5" mount point.

The numbers 2.5 and 3.5 are not the actual size of the enclosures. Just industry standards that evolved around the actual platter sizes of spinning drives.
It will work.

Hi, i wouldnt take my word for anything but i am quite new to building PC's too. I brought a pre-built PC a while ago but it didnt come with a SSD, my case is quite small but i couldnt be bothered to buy a bracket to keep my SSD in place, my SSD is the MX500 SSD and its worked perfectly fine just hanging, just make sure it isnt in a place which is conducting a lot of heat or interfearing with any fans and you could literally just let it hang or rest if you really wanted it too. I dont know about the bracket but if you dont get any other answers but want to install your SSD then just let it rest somewhere for the time being and yes your SSD you are looking at should work fine as long as your motherboard has a spare Sata port and your power supply has a spare sata power cable as a SSD needs both the data cable and power cable connected to it which is from the power supply and motherboard.
