I am in need of an upgrade. Primarely I use my computer for video editing (full time job) and for gaming here and there. I came up with this:

I was looking for something between $1k-$2k so this one seems good. Can you guys look it over and give me some suggestions on anything you think I should replace?

THANK YOU!

Well...............

You say your budget is up to 2000. Current parts are 1462.

That is definitely a good price you have found on the 12700K.

Price a 13600K or 13700 or 13700K with DDR 5 RAM instead of DDR 4.

The premium for DDR 5 has pretty much vanished....down to maybe 30 bucks in your case.

Maybe with a B760 or Z790 motherboard.

See where you come out compared to the 12700K at 1462.

Do you have any particular attraction to that case? Could be OK, I'm totally unfamiliar with it.

I'm not going to say there's a night and day difference between your idea and my suggestions. Far from it. Diminishing returns set in and you might rarely notice the difference.

It's just that a bit more performance is available for a few more dollars. Totally up to you to decide "worth". I have NO IDEA how rigid your budget is or if you are prone to buyer's remorse.

I appreciate all of the input. My budget is not that tight so i have room to wiggle, i would also prefer better performance since I use this literally every single day for work. And the case im not dead set on, i just wanted a white case but it doesnt matter to me if its bright pink

How about all white for a little more?

RX 7800XT instead of the 6800XT is decent improvement.
Larger white RGB CPU cooler
White RGB memory
DDR5 motherboard with white accents.

Memory bandwidth is beneficial to workstation type tasks, not to mention that DDR5 is partially ECC and should make for a more stable workstation.

12700k pricing is tough to beat right now.

Only you know how high up the perf ladder you want to go.

Throw a 12600k into the mix maybe save a buck.

If your not planning to overclock throw a B series mobo into the mix maybe save a buck.

Look at the reqs for your editing app see what it uses.

yo this is awesome!! thank you!

I would suggest you start here:

As you can see, if you use blender extensively - go with Nvidia.

the i7 14700 would be launching in a few weeks. I would suggest you wait for that.

Since the CPU usage would be high and under constant load, i would suggest getting a good mobo with beefy VRMs.

consider 12+ phase and 70A capacitors for VRMs.

DDR4 might still be viable for you. So you can consider a Z690 mobo with USB bios flashback and get the i7 14700 and DDR4 rams.

64 GB of 3600mhz CL18 should be the sweetspot.

Go for high end SSDs. I would suggest Crucial P5 plus, WD SN850X, Kingston KC3000, Samsung 980 pro/990
