[SOLVED] Help transferring OS from HDD to SDD

Situation: I am trying to move my Windows OS to my brand new 1TB Samsung SSD 860 EVO. I have a 2TB HDD with the OS. I have done a full clean factory reset. I have been using Samsung Data Migration 4.0. After I transfer all the data, my computer freezes 10-15~ seconds into shutdown. I do a forced shutdown and wait for 1+ mins before restarting. When restarting if I allow my computer to continue to boot using the HDD it freezes during startup 50% of the time. When restarting my PC and I request it to use the SDD it freezes during startup 100% of the time.

Please help, I have factory reset 2x and full clean reset 1x and spent a whole day trying to figure this out.

OK, that drive should work no problem.

Here is a full procedure on cloning:

-----------------------------
Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot...

What motherboard is this on?
Is the 860 EVO a 2.5" or M.2 format?

If you've done a 'full clean factory' reset...why not just do a full install on the 860, instead of a migration/clone?
The motherboard is P8H77-M PRO and the 860 EVO is a 2.5"

This is the exact SDD on Amazon

After the migration process, did you ever disconnect the old drive and allow the system to try to boot from the new drive by itself?
Physical disconnection of the cables on the old drive...not just selections in the BIOS.
I'll try that now

Edit: It showed the windows boot screen for 2 seconds before going black. Now all I see is my mouse and pinwheel if I click.

Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe all partitions on it.
This will probably require the commandline diskpart function, and the clean command.

Ask questions if anything is unclear.

It worked! Thank you for the help! First time failed but after switching from Samsung Data Migration to Macrium Reflect it worked.
