HELP..
i have a problem with windows 98 se and xp.. i think i might have friend either my mobo or the HD.. but im not sure
my windows usually gives me errors during install...
and it ALWAYS crashes during the driver installation (or after i enter the registration code)
win 98 gives the line windows protection error. please restart the computer.
and sometimes gives others such as while initialization CONFIGMG.
i ran scanreg and it said that there is a problem that it is unable to fix.
so any ideas what the cause could be??

thanx

I have an old mobo SD-11
pc133
westerndigital 15 gig
a rage fury pro
and SB live!
thats about it..

also..before trying to install win 98 i had win xp installed but found it to be unsuited for gaming..

Win XP is great for gaming.. what games are you playing that you can't run?

The issue may be the video driver. I know the original Radeon driver cause a Windows protection error in 98se after a fresh install. Only remedy was to remove the driver, boot the computer normally, and then go download the latest driver from ATi. Don't reboot until you get the new driver installed, otherwise you'll end up with the same problem.

It used to work before.. but i'll try it the way u say.

p.s. games whith which i had problems include
mechcommander 2 (a microsoft game)
age or wonders and even zsnes
(p.s. i upgraded my video driversto be win xp compatible)
