Help with GA-EP43-DS3L and E8400?

Hi, I'm a bit of an overclocking noob (as in a lot) so I'm looking for some help overclocking my E8400 on a Gigabyte EP43-DS3L.
I've tried to follow some of the beginners guides, increasing FSB by a little bit and setting the RAM speed back but its not working... After exiting the BIOS it won't POST the first time, then it'll restart with the CPU settings restored to default and boot fine. Its been annoying me a lot, if you guys could post BIOS settings that would be great. Thanks.
 
I did, I'm having a lot of trouble though. I can't get the computer to POST changing any settings. Even moving the FSB up a little bit and adjusting other settings. I'm only trying to get to 3.6 GHZ right now and I moved from 3.00 to 3.16 (FSB 350) and it doesn't POST. Then it'll restart a few times and the old settings will be restored.

I was wondering if there are settings I'm missing or something?

What's your CPU's Vid? What is the spec voltage of your RAM? What is the speed and latency rating of your RAM? Have you tested your system (without OC) to make sure it's stable (i.e. run memtest86+ O/N without errors and run a prime95-based stress testing program for at least many hours without errors)?

A lost of OC problems are due to incorrect memory freq. When increase FSB, memory freq goes up as well. Try to keep memory freq low like ratio: 1:1 with FSB freq so you can at least eliminate memory as a culprit of your problem.

CPU Vcore->1.22500V?

increase it.
 
I have the same motherboard and CPU as this guy and I am getting the same problems. After saving the setting the PC restarts twice and then reset to default.

I have set System Memory Mulitplier to 2.00B and CPU Vcore to 1.40000v and its still doing it 🙁
 
Hello I have fixed it if your settings the FSB to 400 then you needto set this to

System Memory Multiplier (SPD)-> 2.00D

not

System Memory Multiplier (SPD)-> 2.00B

I am running a stress test now what tempritures are bad for my CPU its been running 10mins and its on 74c, at what point should i start getting worried?
 


Do you still have your vcore set to 1.4v ??????

If you do, you may want to lower it. Intel recommended max is 1.3625v and if your running an E0 stepping you won't even need that.

Also the B,D after the memory multiplier is just a memory strap. You have just loosened up the timing, could be telling you a bump to the NB voltage is in order.

I have changed it to 1.300 V now, what temps should I be looking for in CoreTemp when running Prime95?
