I'm looking at buying a Viewsonic 20.1" LCD monitor and currently have a 9700pro AGP video card. Now I was going to upgrade the video card to a 6800GS or 6800GT. Is it worth it? Can my current video card work? Swapping out to PCI-E is not an option right now, so it has to be AGP.

Spend a little less on the monitor and get a better video card. 20" LCDs are expensive and normally a lot slower of a panel than a 19". You gotta pay big $$$ for a good 20" LCD while a good 19" LCD runs normally $250-300. 1280x1024 is fine for gaming and anything else. Love my 19" Samsung 8ms. I say get a better video card over a huge monitor thats going to have a crappy response time.

I mean I see two 20" Viewsonics on newegg. One is $420 the other is $550. I say get this:

and save yourself an extra $150 for a nice 7900GT or something so you can play at nice high resolutions with your nice new monitor instead of buying a card thats soon to be two generations old. Or are you running AGP? In that case could still get the 7800GS though.
