i have a Compaq Presario sr 1350nx with a p4 intell i just got a dool cor 2 when i put it in the computer the computer whont start

According to your system specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00280665, your motherboard won't work with core2 duos. You need to research the board carefully, especially oem boards, before upgrading the cpu. Many oem boards won't work with newer cpus; your 915 chipset board is too old. If you change to a non compaq motherboard, then you may need a new windows coa unless you've already upgraded your software.

thanks what mother boord can i get i have windows 7 2 gb ram or do i need to just get a new conputer

I recommend you keep or sell your system intact; try selling the core2 duo on craigslist or anandtech's for sale forum. Then either build your own or buy another oem hp system. I prefer hp over dell systems.
