I would suggest you continue to use Windows XP. Otherwise,
you'll have to reformat your drive and install Windows ME
completely from scratch. Windows ME is not regarded as a
very reliable or stable operating system and will soon become
totally obsolete and unsupported.

How to Use the Fdisk Tool and the Format Tool to Partition or
Repartition a Hard Disk

1. Delete the Windows XP partition.
2. Create a new partition.
3. Format the new partition FAT32.
4. Install your desired Operating System.

I have heard some call ME "Wintendo." I found it unstable on one of my
computers and even when I upgraded to XP Pro, the old ME installation caused
problems. I wound up doing a fresh install of XP Pro just to get rid of ME
traces. I cannot believe that going back to ME is a great idea, but if
that is what you want to do, you must do a fresh install. That means that
all your programs will have to be reinstalled and you must save your data
files someplace before you start. Any programs that were downloaded from
the internet will be wiped out.

Is your system unstable? If so, it would be best to address the underlying
problems. If your hard disk is formatted NTFS, you must format the drive
as FAT32 prior to running an ME install. This will, of course, lose any
data you have not backed up and verified.

In any case, it would be best to simply fix the underlying problems rather
than migrating them.
