Question Here RX 6800 XT and RX 7800 XT cost about the same. Which one to get?

Of course the price ranges vary by manufacturer, but to compare, where I live, the most accessible offerings are:
~610€ for an XFX RX 6800XT MERC 319
~600€ for an ASROCK Radeon RX 6800 XT
~610€ for a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7800 XT

I've been waiting out upgrading from an Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 for so long, but this year's mid-range cards seem like barely an improvement over cards made 3 years ago.

What are your thoughts?

I would choose the Sapphire Nitro RX 7800 XT from your 3 cards, don't go for an older 6800 XT. The 7800 XT is already faster and it will improve with future driver improvements, and it's has the next generation RT cores, there is no reason to even consider a 6800 XT at that price.

Some features of the drivers only work on the new 7000 series so there is that as well.

That will be a huge performance increase from an RX 580
