Hello,
thank you for the opportunity to ask such a knowledgeable community 😊
I own HP 6470b lappy (with i5) which is powered by 65W power adapter.
Recently I grabbed a 4c/8t i7-3740QM CPU for an upgrade. Most probably it will need some more juice, hence the need for a new AC adapter.
HP's 90W block provide 19v 4.74A , while 120W blocks are rated at 18.5v 6.5A.
So, what's better - a slightly higher voltage or significantly higher amperage?

What is the voltage rating of the 65W adapter?

Well, .5V probably won't make much difference. Usually you get the power brick with the same voltage and then just increase the current rating, which increases the wattage.

120W bricks are pretty large. And I doubt the CPU upgrade is going to warrant needing more than a 90W adapter.

Thank you for your input, jonnygury, I appreciate that.
Will order a 90W brick following your advice.
Since I use the laptop as a desktop replacement, its screen is never on. HDD is replaced with SSD, and low-voltage DDR3L RAM will follow.
