Question Hesitating between these three AMD GPUs

Hi all,

I'm working on a new build, specifically for Euro Truck Simulator 2 at High/Ultra settings, 4K (3840x2160) native, and 60 FPS with V-Sync ON.

I’ve decided to go with an AMD card due to the price-to-performance ratio, but I can't decide between these three:

- RX 6800 XT
- RX 7800 XT
- RX 6900 XT

I believe the first two cards should be able to handle the game with my required specs (based on benchmarks I've seen on YouTube), and the third has more raw power, I guess?
I also need the card to be future-proof for at least 4 years, as the game keeps getting DLCs that are more demanding.

Availability and prices in my local market:

ASUS TUF RX 6800 16G GAMING - 622 USD

ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7800 XT OC Edition 16GB GDDR6 - 673 USD (MY BUDGET LIMIT)

XFX AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Speedster MERC 319 Black 16GB GDDR6 - 620 USD

/!\ Don't mind my PSU and the rest of the hardware, they will depend on the GPU I choose.

Thank you.

Both the 6800 XT and 6900 XT seem to outperform the 7800 XT based on Passmark's results.

I'd say go with the 6900 XT if you are looking for Ultra 4k, since it does seem to have the most raw power. Plus, it's cheaper than the other two cards. PSU could be the deciding factor here though. What is the model of your current PSU? Exact model.

I would go for the RX 6900 XT or 7800 XT, they have very similar performance, but the 7800 XT is a bit cooler and more efficient, with better ray tracing. If you can get them around the same price, get the 7800 XT, if you can get the 6900 xt for a good bit less, get that. Either way you need a decent PSU to power this, what power supply are you using?

I would get none of them, when you can get a 9070 for only $15 more than that 7800xt.

Thank you all for your answers.

I haven't decided on the PSU yet; I've only got the case so far: Thermaltake View 270. The rest of the hardware will depend on the GPU, since it's a new build.

The RX 6900 XT is very interesting indeed. That said, I personally find it really ugly compared to the other two, it just doesn’t appeal to me at all, but if the performance is really there, I can cope with that inconvenience.

Both the RX 6800 XT and the RX 6900 XT are 2020 cards, any thoughts on their future-proofing?

Please note that these are the only AMD cards in this range available in my market. Any more powerful cards for a bit more price are not an option.

I'd choose the TUF.

Unless you're going to do a vertical mount of the graphics card, what does this matter. You're never going to see anything other than the top of the card anyhow and realistically unless your pockets are pretty deep you usually want to take the performance over the aesthetics if you really care about the performance. I mean, you could gold plate a 1974 pinto, but it would still be a 1974 Ford Pinto. True, sometimes you can get both or are ok with a happy medium that looks better and only has slightly less performance, but considering your need for rather high 4k performance I'd think that the performance of the hardware has got to be the number one concern.

Side comment and didn't see it mentioned.

What is your monitor and what manner of cable are you connecting to it with? Res/framerate?

V-Sync is not going to give the best performance with an AMD graphics solution. I would also mention that if you are using a modern AMD CPU there are some minor benefits that way as well (as I recently discovered). IF you are of a mind to use V-Sync I would recommend sticking to NVIDIA or even Intel cards.
