I don't know about anyone else, but I would like to see a Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB versus Geforce FX 5900 Ultra review. I have recently come into a large sum of money due to my graduation from high school, and am looking to spend some of it on a new top of the line video card. I am torn between the new 9800 Pro and the 5900. I don't want to pay 500 bucks for a card, and I know there will be a non ultra 5900 for 400. Does anyone have any opinions, or possibly links to sites that have compaired these two graphics giants?

hardocp.com and extremetech.com do. Why don't you ask us, the sweet members of this forum, what we think? I say go Radeon, you'll be buying good honest power.

FYI: The 5800 had some cooling issues (cooling fan is known for being really loud). The 5900 seems to be to fix the cooling problem that the 5800's had.

They've both been cheats more than once, so, shrug, honesty isn't part of the computation.

When did the 9800 Pro cheat? The optimizations that were released IMO weren't cheats in the least. Even if they were, ATi released new drivers with the opt removed. I still say Radeon.

I'd get the Radeon 9800 PRO due to Nvidia's cheating drivers, but honestly I don't think the 5900 is that bad a choice.
It's too bad they tainted it with cheating, though... makes it hard to trust comparisons.

Here's tons of reviews:

Yeah, the 5900 isn't bad, but it isn't better, it's harder to find, and more expensive. The choice is clear.

Tit for tat, butter for fat, ATi's dog kicks nVidia's cat
