HiS 7950 underperforming

Solution

Those temps are totally fine. Sounds like your system is performing properly. I would expect WoW to achieve higher fps with a 7950, but I'm guessing that's all the CPU can muster. If 40-60fps is not high enough for you, you could try overclocking the CPU and GPU.

You would need an aftermarket CPU cooler like the Hyper 212 evo or similar (not expensive) and mild CPU overclocking is not too difficult. Your only other option would be to maybe upgrade the CPU.

Shouldn't be a cpu bottleneck (at least not to a large extent). My friend's computer runs a 6100 with a 6950. What type of games are you running and what is your current performance with the 7950?

What resolution are you playing at and do you happen to know your CPU temps while gaming? And are you using the stock or aftermarket CPU cooler?

Ok, that's a decent set up and very nice motherboard. :)

To check your CPU temp, download and install a program called "Core Temp". If you run that, at the bottom it will show the CPU temps. Let us know what it shows with the system idling (doing nothing). Fire up WoW and play for a while. Alt-Tab out and check the temps and again, let us know what it shows.

Are the games running smoothly or do they jump and stutter?

Ok for idle I was roughly around 17-24C max was showing 31C. After playing for 30 minutes max was at 41C while showing current temp at 35C. Games run smooth never have had a sudden drop in fps for no reason.
