Ive been looking for a good 5.1 speaker sets for the past 1 month. I couldnt decide which ones to get. Reading from the various post, everyone has either mentioned about the Z5500 and Z5300. How about the Z5400? Anyone has any experiences with those speaker?
I'm from Melbourne, Aust. I have the option of spending about A$320 for the Z5400 or add extra $120 for the Z5500.

Also, was considering the Megaworks 550. I know its as powerful as the Z5500 but unfortunately it doesnt have digital playback. Any feedback on the megaworks?
Would appreciate if someone could help me out here.
THanks.

For that kind of $$, all things considered, I'd probably select something with a digital input. If these are going in your bedroom and you live in an apartment or with other people, there's a good chance you may not be able to crank any of these up too much, so why buy too much power? Now, if you're looking for a living room solution to be your all-around speakers for your home theater...then I'd say make the move to the Z5500...but not just for gaming. What kind of soundcard are you mating this solution to?

i have the audigy 2 ZS.
the speakers will be used in my room. I live in an apartment on the 1st floor. The reason i'm reluctant to buy the Z5500 immediately i'm guessingl the speakers esp the subs might piss off my neighbour down below. My room is exactly above his bedroom as well. Thats y i am considering the Z5400. its not as powerful.
unfortunately not many people did reviews on this model.

I could get the Z5450 really cheap here. Its only $395. but the reviews for that speakers hasnt been too favourable.

Also it wont be just for gaming. I enjoy my movies esp the dts encoded ones. I only buy dvds which features that.

I thought the Z5500 might get you into a little trouble for exactly the kind of reasons you mentioned. But of course, you do know that you can turn the sub down...it's not like this uncontrollable beast that plays out its own volume despite what you set it at, eh? It's just that you'd be paying for power you'd never be able to use. Like buying a Gallardo when the speed limit is 40kph everywhere you can drive (and the police are out with laser)...not much fun.

However, sometimes it fun to have a little bit more than you need. There'll be some time when no one's looking (or listening) and you could let the Z5500 beast loose.

The Z5450 is not too much of a step down, given your situation it might be the wiser choice.

Ive finally decided to buy the Z5500. It sounds awesome. But the subs are huge..Good thing i had enuff place under my desk to place it.
Just need to get the digital cable then it should be sweet!!

Thanks for the advice..
