I am trying to access the web on my Windows XP as some of my programs will not work on newer Windows versions.
The outdated Internet Explorer errors out when I try to connect to web. I have a Wireless Belkin USB that has connect me to the internet.

Is there any way to change browsers or will I have to update the hardware on the computer?

You might still be able to type into the address bar and get to google to get to any of the offerings off that page.

Or most likely down load the off line installer on a modern machine and use a USB drive to move it over and install on the old XP machine.

Wi-Fi adapters need drivers. Sometimes when they are not installed the internet wont work. Can you see the Wi-Fi symbol at the bottom, and can you connect to a specific Wi-Fi network through it? If not download the drivers (another computer needed) by following this guide.

If you have connected to a network already, and still experiencing the same, you can try to install another browser, by copying the installer from another computer onto a USB and try from there.

If there are troubles installing the new browser, you can use a portable version of the app. This portable version should be copied onto the USB and you can run the browser through USB without having to install it! (you will need another computer to download & copy it into the USB)

Here are some browsers' portable versions.
Find more here : https://portableapps.com/apps/internet

Keep me posted!

You could try porting certificates from IE on a different computer to Windows XP, I've done it in the past and it somewhat works for the most part from what I can remember.

I believe theoretically it is possible but you may face challenges to the point where it really just isn't practical. Firstly, modern websites contain so much script that if your computer is old enough, probably couldn't handle it along with the old browser you are using. Secondly is security issues. Almost every antivirus that I know of won't work below Windows 7, and older versions of the antivirus are so out of date that it would be useless, as their malware databases nowadays are completely different. It would be extremely easy for your computer to be attacked, if you happen to accidentally go to a wrong website.

I recommend getting VirtualBox, installing XP along with your programs on that, and use your modern Windows version for internet use.

When running Windows XP, these are the browsers I have found work the best. MyPal will handle 99% of today's web pages and video's, and when that fails, have 360Chrome installed also.

Use MyPal. Problem solved. I don't know how much longer it will last since it's still a fork of old Firefox and it's been discontinued due to drama with Pale Moon, but I run it on every XP system I own and it works fine with every site I've tested it on.

Make sure you have Legacy Update as well, one of the updates available contains changes to Window's cryptography which will add SSL 3 and TLS 1 support.

You should download FIREFOX ESR 32bit . Its latest version of Firefox that is supported for systems below win 8.1 . here is official link : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

If you connect through USB modems like my alcatel that has SIM card in it and use 3G 4G or 5G , any kind of USB connection be SURE that you have ms net framework 3.5 and 4.0 installed otherwise your device could not work .

This is my first post on this forum 😀 and I use Windows XP 32bit SP3 and that version of Firefox . Best regards.
