How can I prevent Windows XP from using TEMP files for DVD..

I usually use Nero for burning multisession or single-session data
dvds, but I thought I'd play around with XP's builtin burning.

I want to use it for DVD+RW discs since I've had quite a few times when
Nero burned RW's don't work unless Nero is installed.

I know I can use TweakUI to move the temp location from Docs&Settings
(shame the drive's recording dialog setting doesn't work), but I think
it's stupid that Windows can't just use the original files for the
source like every other burning app does.

Is there any way to force Windows XP to NOT create a copy (temp) of
what I want to burn?

It's a moot point, the XP CD burner won't burn DVDs.

You can't.

See...

[[There is no support at all in the inbuilt burning for burning DVD media.]]

Use 3rd party software.

No, I suspect it is a safety measure. CD burning is a continuous
buffering action. So if a user opens/uses a queued up file then the
burn process might fail or have access violations. So the XP
process creates a cached copy and avoids that potential issue.

As with many features in XP they are basic or rudimentary types
of tools (Defrag, System Restore, CD-Burning). More advanced
capabilities require the use of a 3rd party tool.

If you have a system that wont read Nero's DVD-RW...might I suggest INCD
which is a part of NERO and as such their website has a "reader" for it that
can be installed on the DVD-RW.This has worked for me in sending files on
DVD-RW to persons who do not have Nero at all.

It's so much easier to suggest solutions when you don't know too much about
the problem
