I'm trying to play skyrim on my alienware gaming laptop but its impossible to play when your Hz is above 60, when I try to change it to 60 I only have the option of 144 Hz. Is there a way to get it back to 60?

If the game won't allow you, you could change it through windows. Go to settings -> System -> Display -> scroll down to advanced display settings -> change refresh rate to 60 Hz. Just don't forget to change it back. Can't really think of anything else, but probably the easiest method. Could see if NVIDIA or AMD's control panel has game based settings to set the refresh rate of particular games.

You can change max fps for a specific program, such as Skyrim, in Nvidia Control Panel. 3D settings then the tab Program Settings.

Skyrim original version (not SE) is known for problems with higher fps than 60 Hz. Example, wildlife spawns high above ground, and fall to their death.

You can also Google "skyrim high fps" for further suggestions.
