How do I do a PC lookup by Service Tag Number?

Hello,
How do I find out what motherboard and other components are compatable for a PC by service tag number on this site? Also, is there a way to do a lookup for a Motherboard by serial number to find out what is compatable on the Motherboard?

Do a search of the service tag and/or your motherboard s/n.
you probally won't find much info with those numbers here.
You should do a search of the problems or of the components that you want to check the compatability of.
Best bet would be to ask a question: what memory is compatable with my MoBo #xxxx-xxx-x

Hi David and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

Like u are talking about a service tag I will assume that u have a DELL or HP rig.

Just go to the support page of the manufacturer and enter with the service tag of the rig, the system can show u the original configuration and u can ask what upgrade u can do.
