How do I fix the headphone slot in my laptop?

My wired headphones work fine on my ipod and phone but not on my laptop. I think someone may have hit the part next to my trackpad which is above the headphone slot and that may have tampered with it.
Update: I tried resting my forearm(like i usually do) on the part next to the trackpad while the headphones are connected and it keeps messing up the connection and I can feel it so I am almost positive someone hit that section messing up the headphone slot.

Something inside is broken or loose.
Either take it apart and fix it, or buy some external USB device.

How would i know it's broken or loose by looking at it?

If you personally can't look, analyze, and tell...you need to take it to someone who can.

I opened it and looking so how would i be able to determine it being broken or loose?

From your original:
"I tried resting my forearm(like i usually do) on the part next to the trackpad while the headphones are connected and it keeps messing up the connection"
So...some wire is a little bit broken, but is usually connected.
Wiggle stuff around to find what is sort of loose.

Now...once you find the loose/semi-broken wire(s)...what will you do with it?

What tools will I need?

This depends on exactly what and how it is broken.
How handy are you with a soldering iron?
