How do I manually install Windows 10 updates?

Hello.
I attempted updating my graphics drivers but they failed due to the OS not being up to date.

The automatic Windows updater keeps running into issues, and is unable to update.

I am currently running the 15063.413 build of Windows 10 1703.
I've found that the most recent build of Windows is 15063.540.

How should I download and install this update?

I've found 4 files on the Windows Update Catalog by searching "KB4034674"
Should I download all 4?

Ok.
I am getting this error code that relates to Windows.
"2017-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4034674) - Error 0x800706be"

I am also getting two issues with AMD. But those are because I need to have Windows fully updated before either of them can update.

I downloaded and attempted to install the KB4034674 build. After it goes through all of the installing and whatnot, it tells me that the update did not install. I'm not getting any errors other than that, it just says it didn't install.

What should I do?

Again. We need to troubleshoot the updater. Not just go installing updates that simply failed.

First try the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Sometimes it is able to find and fix Updater issues.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027322/windows-update-troubleshooter

If that doesn't work. Try manually resetting the Windows Updater components.

If that doesn't work. Post back with issues you ran into from running both the above.

The troubleshooter has the error: An error occurred while troubleshooting.
The error comes up instantly when it's run.

Following the directions of your second link, I cannot get past step 3. All 4 of the programs in step 2 say they were not running.
The command prompt cannot find the file in step 3. How do I find it manually to delete it?

Well I verified those files are indeed located there in Windows 10.

Open file manage and just paste "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader" into it. It will bring you to the file location.

If you still want to do it through cmd as the article states. You need to make sure to run cmd as administrator.

Ok, that worked.
Yeah, I had ran it in administrative mode.

What file(s) should I delete in this location?
There are two files named qmgr.

One is a .db file, and the other is a .jfm file.

There is no .dat file.
I ran the command again, in administrator mode, and it says that the file does not exist.

Ok then create a desktop folder, called it "backup" or something. Then cut and paste both file these out and place them into your desktop folder. When you finish the rest of the process, it should automatically recreate those files.

If something breaks, you can always copy them back.

It still doesn't work for some reason.
Whenever I run the Windows Update Assistant, it says "Thank you for updating to the latest version of Windows 10" The only option is to exit.

didn't install or waiting for reboot?

It didn't install.
I've rebooted since, and it hasn't applied the update, so I'm assuming it didn't work.

I just tried. Didn't work either.

How should I go about backing up all my data?

Try steps 3 and 4 of this link.

Not every solution works to resolve Windows Updater. We just need to find one that does for your exact issues.

You can also try doing a system restore to just before the update that started causing issues, then reinstall the update cleanly.

This also provides some good options into further troubleshooting the updater.

See if this helps

right click start button
choose powershell (admin)
type SFC /scannow and press enter
once its completed, copy/paste this command into same window:
Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth and press enter
SFC fixes system files, DISM cleans image files, re run SFC if it failed to fix all files and restart PC

what type of file did it give you from windows catalog? If its a cab file you can use a command line to install it: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/66346-install-cab-file-windows-10-a.html

The 3rd step didn't work, and the 4th didn't make much sense. So that didn't work either.

The WSUS offline thingy seems to be doing stuff, but I'm not sure if it will install anything properly.
