I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade my current gaming rig to 2011 standards for a reasonable price.
Here is my current set-up:

Power Supply: Antec 1000w

CPU Type: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz

CPU Speed: 2.42 GHz

System Memory: 4 GB

Video Card Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT

Video Card Memory: 2.73 GB

Desktop Resolution: 1600x1024

Hard Disk Size: 465.75 GB

Hard Disk Free Space: 153.5 GB (33%)

Download Speed: 842.44 kB/s (6.9 mbps)

I am using a secondary video card, I know, but I would like to upgrade for possible dual-screen gaming set up.

No FPS just for MMOs.

Thanks for your time guys,
I appreciate it!

I think Motopsychojdn is right

Over clock the processor . This depends a bit on your motherboard , and perhaps on fitting a bigger cooler .

A graphics card it the main upgrade you can do . What you should buy has to be considered with the monitor you will use

And your hard drive is getting quite full . Fitting another to the computer , and either reinstalling windows [ preferred] or transferring files to the new drive to free space may hel too

PSU was listed at the top of the post 😛 1000w Antec - i think that can handle a little overclocking and a GTX 460 :pt1cable:

Might also consider a 6870 over a GTX 460. Just something with a little more "ooompf"

Is the cpu an obsolete one that much?

i dont remember the name of my mobo but at the time it was one of the top one.

and i dont know anything about overclocking , but i got the best case ever made at that time

the antec 900 case.

im just a simple guy who like to play games 🙂

The problem isn't the CPU its the socket type of the motherboard that's holding you back.
