How long should it take to transfer footage?

Hi I was just wndering how long should it take to transfer a 25GB 1080p HD movie from my camcorder to a standard def disk? because it takes approx 3 hours. Is it anything to do with the speed of the usb 2.0 ports? would it be quicker if I got a laptop with usb3.0? as I am going to get a new laptop soon. thanks

The time consumer is processing the video files within the computer. Even with an i7 CPU the process is long. It's independent of USB.

If you want faster video files processing, get a computer with an fast CPU, such as i7 or equivalent.
