How much overclocking does an MSI Z97A Gaming 7 support with an i5 4690K processor?

How much can I overclock this CPU?

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX
PSU: Corsair AX 860

I was thinking at about 4.2 GHZ but more is good. I just want to overclock it but not do any damage. And if you overclock it too much, will lessen the life span of it?

It looks to be a 12-phase VRM design, so I would expect your CPU to get to it's limits on that board. Especially with a good cooler like that. Maybe 4.5-4.7Ghz? Hard to know.

Technically running it at any speeds higher than stock lessens the life, but it's not like your CPU gets a phone call saying "...7 daysss." Just don't expect it to be working 10 years down the road if you push the overclock a lot (but who games on a 10 year old PC?).
