I'm going to be building a $2500 computer for gaming/video editing/3D modeling, as well as using Adobe Photoshop cs6, and I was wondering how much RAM do I need to do all this? Is 16GB enough? Is it too much, too little? I know 8GB is fine just for gaming, but I'm less sure for video editing/3D modeling.

Solution
Great combo, that's what I'm running, I'd suggest the Trident X in 2x8GB, with the video/3D work would look at 1866/8, 2133/9 or 2400/10, second choice would be their Sniper line, little easier on the wallet also

Thanks a ton. What's the difference between 1866/8, 2133/9 and 2400/10? I'm still learning about all this, so.

Each is a step up performance wise, when deciding on DRAM you want a combination of high freq and low CL (latency), the sticks I've mentioned are considered high performance, entry level DRAM is basically 1600/9, 1866/9-10, 2133/10-11, 2400/11-12......With your combo, you can pretty much use as fast (high freq as you want), I went with 2666/11 on my Haswell (more to cost than anything, would have preferred 2800 or faster but, back then prices jumped sky high, and these were plenty high enough ;) )
