How reduce line spacing in Windows Explorer?

Sometimes I find that there are not enough lines in Windows Explorer
even if its window is maximized.

I can reduce the size of the *text* in Win Explorer by reducing the
value for font size in the "ICON" setting in Display > Appearance >
Advanced.

The PROBLEM is that the number of lines displayed remains the same.
I need to reduce the line *spacing*. How can I do this?

I guess (???) that I may need to reduce the size of the small icons
at the beginning of each line. Changing the vale of the icon size in
the same part of the display settings does not seem to change the Win
Explorer icons

I am on XP Pro + SP1.

Only sure way I know to do what you wish is to Increase screen
resolution. (Control Panel, Display, Settings, Screen resolution, move
slider to the right)

Zarbol. This will sound to simple but you might just place your cursor
on the line between the message headers and the text and move it around
until a double headed arrow appears, then hold down the right button and
move the line up until the number of lines that you want are showing.

Relative to this, I find the point at which the double arrow appears to be
quite hard to find at times.
Is there a way to increase the width of the area which makes it appear? (if
you see what I man!)

David, I found I could get a similar esult to the one I wanted by
adding a new String Value for "Shell Small Icon Size" here:

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

The default value is 16 so I used 12 or 13 to get the lines closer
together.
