Up until this point I have only bought PC parts from amazon and BestBuy, but the GPU I want is completely out of stock everywhere and Newegg has them on back order. Is Newegg reliable when it comes to backordering?

Also how safe is it to have your credit card info on Newegg? Is it more likely to be stolen than on other websites? Is Newegg actually not a real website and everyone who talks about it are actually in on the plot? Just little concerned about putting in my credit card info on Newegg.

Newegg has been in the industry for nearly 3 decades...or longer since I took interest on this industry. You should be fine with ay purchases. If there is something that does go sideways, you have your bank to fall back on in terms of a dispute.

So back ordering from them should be fine? I'm just not sure how likely the back order to be voided or not. I read some people had their orders voided like 8 years ago from a 8 year old reddit post, but that's it.

Be aware that like other retailers, Newegg allows third party sales. I cannot recommend using anything other than "shipped by Newegg" unless that third party seller has impeccable 100% reviews.

They have been implicated a few times in the last couple of years of reselling open box as new and high grade used/returns that were obviously bad. In spite of the inconvenience of such an occurrence, I have never heard of anyone not getting their funds back due to it.

Yes. Stick to sold and shipped by Newegg. It is a marketplace just like Amazon, BestBuy, Walmart, Temu, etc. So individual sellers can still be running scams. If the price looks too good to be true, it is. Mind the shipping details as well.

If I pre-oder a GPU will I 100% get it though? And how long would it take? Would it take longer than if I had normally I expected it to be? I mean I wouldn't mind waiting a month, but 2 or 3 months? Not sure.

In a very general sense, Newegg will typically put a pretty deep discount on a backordered item and often will have the expected back in stock date listed. If they don't, write them an email and ask.

I have been buying from Newegg for nearly 20 years. I have rarely had an issue with them and usually can have problems ironed out with a little digging. They used to be easy to call, but that has changed.

I have purchased several items in the past with back ordering, and without any problems, except they might not tell you that it is perpetually "out of stock". They are usually cheaper than Best Buy and about the same as Amazon with some exceptions where Amazon is just slightly cheaper.

Bookmark a few sites that carry this part.
Every couple of days scan through the bookmarks.
When the part becomes available order one.

They sold me a Windows 11 Pro DVD that ended up being de-activated by Microsoft. Microsoft said the Product Key has had many attempts to be used to install Windows on many different computers. I contacted Newegg and was told that was impossible because the product came directly from Microsoft. I argued the point and was told they would have their techs look at it and get back to me. That was more than a month ago and even after several more attempts to contact them, I have heard nothing.

Unfortunately, this company is a scam. I bought the motherboard on their website through a link from the MSI website. As it turns out, my motherboard, like many others from MSI, turned out to be defective. I spent almost $1500 on the motherboard. It turned out that the warranty does not apply because I do not live in America. So why does Newegg sell products to Europe if it cannot provide warranty service? I am very disappointed and do not know what to do. It's a lot of money, certainly not just for me. It's a scandal. They should be blocked and removed from the authorized sellers of MSI products. MSI cannot give me a guarantee either because I have to send the motherboard back to the store, but Newegg does not want to accept it from me. I will never use this store again and I do not advise buying anything if you do not live in the USA.

I used Newegg extensively when Covid hit and I had to WFH. I built a new PC piecemeal during 2020 and never have had an issue so far. As other said already, I only buy "Sold and Shipped by Newegg".

I haven't heard that they are less secure than any other online retailer. Use a credit card you keep frequent tabs on. I have bought from them in the past with no issues.
