[SOLVED] How to check GPU is dead vs MOBO/PSU issue?

Hey guys, it's my first time posting here.

Kind of a despiration post really.

So my computer has been having a few issues recently, stuttering on WoW and videos starting to stutter a little bit + windows goes black a few times and the graphics of windows go super basic, I figured ok the game has advanced over the years and my computer is now 7 years old now.

So I gave it a good dust, cleaned everything out, a few hours go by and my computer turns off, when it turns back on it looks like this:

I restart my computer, load it up and it works properly this time, except my GPU is constantly dropping to 0%:

Finally my computer decides enough is enough and now refuses to run my graphics card at all, giving error 43.

  1. I have tried reinstalling the graphics drivers multiple times, as advised on many other posts I have seen.
  2. I have tried rolling back windows to see if that makes a difference.
  3. I have tried cleaning the pins / used compressed air on my MOBO to make sure there is no dust in the PCI-E slot that could be causing an issue
I am about ready to accept that my GPU is dead, but I just want some clarification from an expert or someone with more knowledge than me, I am concerned I am about to go spend £100-200 on a new GPU, when there is the possibility that it's a PSU or MOBO issue.

So my question is, can I test this somehow? to make sure it's my graphics card causing the issue and not another piece of hardware.

My computer runs fine on the integrated graphics with no GPU installed.

I should also mention that while playing WoW my CPU was dropping from 60% down to 20% constantly similar to the GPU picture above, which is why I'm questioning the PSU / MOBO, or maybe that was just a symptom of my GPU possibly being faulty?

Thanks, sorry for the long winded post.

Solution
if its 7 years old your PSU has done a brilliant job buy a new one but it could be GPU but you are going to need a PSU anyway.

Thanks, I bought a second hand GPU but I haven't replaced the PSU yet due to budget. I'll make that my next replacement when I can afford it :)

if you use the gpu only with generic driver from os do you have the same picture if yes then gpu is out .
You're right, GPU is out as far as I can tell, unless it was another issue that caused its failure.

I just got a second hand GTX 1060 6GB for £165, not sure if that's a good price or if I overpaid, but I was desperate to replace it asap. Everything is running perfectly fine again now!

The performance jump from a GTX 760 2GB to a 1060 6GB is insane, thanks for the advice about replacing it.
