How to create a bootable usb for bios update

i want to update mu bios as some of driver are not working
please help me on
1) how to create a bootable usb
2) how to extract bios before updating and for what purpose
3) bios : award
motherboard :gigabyte gavm800pmc
chipset : vm82c314
os : windows xp
4) please give me detailed steps to follow during bios updating
