How to disable 2nd screen without unplugging it everytime

Hello, I have 2 monitors, but only need the 2nd one when I am live streaming. I was wondering how to disable it without unplugging it everytime, because I assume running 2 monitors even with nothing on the 2nd one, will make my FPS drop a little bit.

Big, if I just turn it off my GPU is still "feeding" the video to it, so it will have an impact on my FPS in games.

Right click anywhere on the desktop, click screen resolution. Click on the display you want to turn off. In the Multiple displays drop box, choose "disconnect this display". Click apply.

EDIT: assuming you are using windows 7.

The easiest way is to use the Windows key + p
a small window pops up in the middle of your desktop screen. Select the first option computer only. This will shut down the second monitor and only the main monitor will be active.
