on picture there is indeed space for 16 memory modules, while only 8 are used

only one module can be on FBIOB1 (B1 channel)

That is presumably a multipurpose PCB from the looks of it. Probably for the entire GK104 line up so 760/760Ti/770/680/670

I see 8 populated for 2GB
All sixteen would get you 4GB like on the GTX770 4GB or GTX760 4GB.

on your picture that would be red number 12 (M503)
