How to remove a stuck case from dell dimension 3000

I am trying to remove the case of dell dimension 3000. It is stuck. I am holding the latch and trying to slide the case as indicated in owners manual but it won't budge. Am I missing something?

Place a thin screwdriver in the space between the panel and the case and slightly twist the screw driver.

If that doesn't free the panel, place the flat screw driver blade at the bottom between the panel and the case and twist. It will break free. It is probably stuck due to years of dust getting in between.
