Question How to solve a mouse lag with a 4k monitor?

Hi,

Tried several monitors, all were ok but one: it seems like the culprit is being 4k.
My mouse doesn't follow "live" as it should, there's a lag. How to solve this?

My guess is your computer is having trouble with quickly processing 4K resolution. What are your computer specs and how old is your computer?

Does your laptop have discrete gpu?
If you're using cpu integrated graphics and connecting 4k screen via HDMI, then you're limited to 30Hz(or 24Hz).

Not sure how to know that? My knowledge is quite limited.
Hope you can help me a bit further with this.

Also, I'd like to know how to make sure my next laptop purchase allows me to connect to a 4k external monitor.

You can use GPU-Z, to check graphics hardware on your laptop.

Lower portion of GPU-Z (where drop down list box with "Intel(R) HD Graphics 620" is located), when you click on down arrow, do you get a choice for additional item - like "NVIDIA® GeForce® MX150" for example?

No, that's the only one there.

Then you have only integrated gpu in your laptop and 4k refresh rate via HDMI is limited to 30Hz(or 24Hz).
If your laptop had Display Port video output (and monitor Display Port input) then you could achieve 4k@60Hz.

Ok so bottom line is my laptop doesnt support a 4k external monitor properly (it does but there will always be a lag).

Now, how do I make sure my next laptop purchase allows me to do so? My knowledge is limited, but is there an easy way to find out in the specs online?
