Did anyone try this on the Intel HD3000 gpu? would be curious to see where it slots in - probably above the GeForce 210, maybe a bit below AMD 6450... Ivy Bridge (HD4000) should be able to hit playable frame rate with the dynamic shadows and FXAA at typical laptop resolution (1366x768)

[citation][nom]LongPastPNR[/nom]EA games are crooks and criminals.[/citation]

dont forget they are also evil... and disrespectful to the art know as game design

[citation][nom]cknobman[/nom]Heres the bad news: since this game is a console port, I wont be buying it.[/citation]
Really? I understand being an elitist bastard and all (because I am one when it comes to A/V and quality), but if something is fun to play and can get you into the story like ME can then it's time to set your silly bias aside and enjoy it for what it is: A great story.
Sure the visuals are so-so, but it is not like they are terrible, or just completely done wrong, or detract from the phenomenal voice acting/choreography/storytelling. It is good enough, and good enough to play on a wide range of hardware so everyone that want's to enjoy it can do so.

[citation][nom]moricon[/nom]I Give up!!!!This has shown me whatI have been thinking for a while now, how pants AMD performance really is....a 2500k, literally CRAPS all over my Phenom x6 @ 4GHZScrew it, moving to intel i7 2600k, refuse to play AMD any more....Anyone want a x6 and Asus Crosshairs iv, going for a steal![/citation]

Look at their CPU roundup, at no price point is AMD superior to Intel. There's a reason AMD's conference didn't address this: they've given up. Bulldozer was supposed to have 2 billion transistors and perform better than Sandy-Bridge. It ended up having 1.2 billion transistors and performed worse than the Phenom IIs.

Until AMD gets some new heads up there, I'm not buying from them.

I'd love to play this game, but requiring Origin is a dealbreaker for me. It's a no-purchase unless it comes out on Steam.

Again with unrealistic game gear, why do you think we would run 2500k with low end video? Why don't you run mid range CPU with mid range video cards?

Ahh, you know both CPUs go well over 60 FPS ? Even the minimum FPS is above 60 FPS ? Really it doesn't matter. Some people.

That's silly. Origin isn't really any different. Set it to not run at startup, delete the desktop icon, and only have it run when you click your ME3 icon. No big deal. I hate EA too, but can't go without my Mass Effect.

What? No love for us GTX 570 users?
Download Nvidia Inspector and run it with SSAA. I'm telling you, it's the way to play the Mass Effects.

[citation][nom]LongPastPNR[/nom]ME1 was Great ! ME2 was a big big let down and ME3 will be far to hollywood and dumbed down beacuse of the Mcdonalds and Facebook gen sad really.[/citation]

I liked the gameplay of ME2 better, but the story was better for ME1. Both were still amazing games, and I wish I had the money to preorder this as I'm sure it will still be good.

We devoted an entire page to benchmarking AMD and Intel CPUs, and we used AMD Graphics cards.

What are you smoking, sir?

So when is the time I can play an eye-candy game without AA enabled in a SLI 570? We need games Avartar CG graphics(while retaining good gameplay), I dont mind buying 2 Keplers for this.

In other words, ME3 is just another console port, but a plus point for it is, it does have good gameplay, something that is still worth bothering. Yeah I hope Bioware keep the gameplay part decent, since it is rare these days to have games that offer good gameplay + graphics

Speaking of that the CPU scalling tells me that my Pentium Dual Core E5800 is ok to paired up with Radeon 6850, wooohooo time to buy 7770 when it drop to $100.

The GTX 560 Ti gets 67 FPS *minimim* at the highest details 1920x1080, and over 100 FPS average.

The 570 will be faster, sure, but I don't think there's much point to benchmarking it. The 560 Ti is already overkill.

I'm sure my comparatively ancient Geforce 9800M GTS could run this game at high detail with very little trouble. It could do so on the first game. I remember playing the first Mass Effect on a Geforce 6800M Ultra! No problems. The fact that modern hardware doesn't exactly break a sweat is no surprise to me. This is exactly why I want Nvidia and AMD to open up their own game studios to help sell their high-end software. Sponsoring games is not doing the trick.

I don't get the hype and excitement behind Mass Effect 3. The first one was decent. The second one watered down. This third entry isn't even on my radar. Consider the ridiculous quantity of problems I've had with Origin and Battlefield 3 I have to remind everyone that buying and playing Mass Effect 3 will be more frustrating than any other game you've owned. The fact that my entire Origin account got locked out of their system a month ago without any explanation is plenty to get me to steer clear of this title and advise others to do so. It took a week of back and forth with EA to get the problem sorted out. I'm confident playing through Deus Ex Human Revolution again is more entertaining than trying to deal with Mass Effect 3. EA shovelware just isn't worth the time investment.

You will never get it because that's only YOUR opinion. I liked BOTH Mass Effects and the third promises to be great as well, and I don't care how Hollywood-ized it is, can't be THAT bad... and multiplayer is addicting as hell.

EA shovelware just isn't worth the time investment.

It's actually less hassle and better UI than Steam. All crap that people talk about Origin is... well, crap.

[citation][nom]trapper[/nom]If you're a gamer dont get the i7, get the i5 2500k. For an extra $100 you wont see any gaming improvements.[/citation]

Any time you make a generalized "gamer" statement, especially about CPUs, you are wrong. Different games can have different hardware requirements.

It is best to look at the application or applications you are building for, not go by some generalized idea posted at the end of an article or thrown about in forum posts.

You must be a paid EA shill. Everyone knows the Origin UI is completely ridiculous. It duplicates functionality in Autolog/Battlelog/somethinglog, commonly locks up when you try to use the settings window if something else happens beneath, loves to bombard users with ads at random times rather than just at start up, can crash Battlefield 3 if the overlay is turned on, is capable of forgetting that you own games (the whole resetting entitlements problem), does not allow you to seamlessly join the games of friends or easily get into large group chats or voice sessions, and many more things. To say that Origin's UI is better and less hassle than Steam shows me that you don't have a clue what you're talking about or were born yesterday.

Having Origin mandatory in Mass Effect 3 should be a deal-breaker for everyone. It's not worth the effort considering Mass Effect 3 won't even be all that great. If it were to improve on the original I'd be quiet. It's not designed that way. It's just another watered-down game in a franchise that started strong until EA mucked with it. ME3 is just another Crysis 2 -- a let down compared to the original. I suppose if you're really excited and going to buy it no matter what you should do it and play the multiplayer first before all the cheats come out like they always do for EA games.

[citation][nom]cknobman[/nom]Heres the bad news: since this game is a console port, I wont be buying it.[/citation]

I agree in part here. "Console ports" tend to be limited and make a game feel dumbed-down to the PC user. I won't buy a console because of the proprietary nature of having to develop for each one, and am not impressed with game publishers developing for the PC as an afterthought.

That being said, I will buy a "console port" if I'm interested enough in the game. Aside from enjoying a game on my PC, I want publishers to understand that there ARE a lot of us who have already spend our money on our computers and WILL buy their game if they make it available to us.

It's a bad idea to wait until after initial release of a game, when the excitement about it is at its peak. Doing so reduces the number of games you sell to PC players. Release the game on the PC at the same time you release it for console play. Better late than never, but best to make for initial release.

Sadly, EA doesn't pay me. I've NEVER SEEN ANY ADS in Origin. It used to freeze with the settings like you described, true - not so after yesterday's update for me. Overlay is nicely integrated with Mass Effect 3 (playing MP in demo right now) and DOES allow you to seamlessly join friends' games! I do that all the damn time! Voice chats... sorry, I always disable those, not a fan on talking while gaming, but people chat all the time. There's absolutely no "effort" involved in using Origin besides coming up with a gamer tag that isn't already in use :p

To say such lies about Origin shows that you have no clue what you're talking about or were born yesterday. I bet you never actually tried it and just believed to all those lies they write around teh internets; I used to think the same, but ME3 demo made me try it and damn, it's good.

I very much doubt that ME3 will be ANYTHING like Crysis 2. It's a different game to start with and I can't wait for it after looking at all the trailers. And I'm a VERY picky gamer.

I'm surprised at how little cpu this game requires. I think I could run it on max on my lappy if I o/c the Core2Duo to 2.4GHz and the 260M back to stock frequencies at 1366x768.

As long as Mass Effect 3 is an Origin Exclusive title I'll never know how it runs on my PC.

I think he was more rightly in referent to the fact that nobody uses ME games as a bencmark and he is right. The games looks so much better on Radeon hardware which is something Green teams fans never understand that Radeon just has better IQ which is beleave it or not a top reason for buying a GPU just as much as performance.
