I plan to upgrade this holiday season, and I have this build in mind. I just need to make sure that it it will all work together. Also, I currently have a tower that I use for everything, so I will be able to keep things like my hard drive and power supply with this new build.
Here's the list:

Processor: Intel Core i5-8600K Desktop Processor 6 Cores up to 4.3 GHz unlocked LGA 1151 300 Series 95W

Graphics Card: GTX 1070 Ti

Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z370-A LGA1151 DDR4 DP HDMI DVI M.2 USB 3.1 Z370 ATX Motherboard with USB 3.1 for 8th Generation Intel Core Processors

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory Kit - White (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15W)

All but the graphics card can be found under those exact names on Amazon if any other info is needed. Also, just a general question; what are the fast and hard rules for telling if a motherboard and processor, or motherboard and RAM (or any other components) are compatible with each other? I think I have it down, but I just want a for sure answer to confirm for the future. Thanks in advance!

Use https://pcpartpicker.com/, it has a compatibility tool that for the most part will spot issues (not 100% but close) and also get you way better deals on the parts them selves, which Amazon isn't always it.

Everything looks good, but keep an eye out for a GTX 1080, they are super cheap right now and may be even cheaper with black Friday. Also you will need a cooler for the 8600K, the Cryorig H7 is good for stock and moderate overclcoks and the Cryroig H5 can hand all but the heaviest ones. You can also look at Noctua NHD15 or BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 for really beefy coolers.

Yeah, that's a solid build you got there. What cooling solution are you thinking of using? Also, what is the current PSU that you're planning on keeping?

I've seen other users here making suggestions of what cooling systems I should use, so I'll probably run with one of those. As for power supply, I don't have the box with me, but I know it's 650W unit

Yeah, having your cirrent part list will help as there might be components you could keep. I would really suggest you tell us more about the PSU as 650w doesn't mean anything if it's a lower-tier model. Have look at it, you should see a sticker on one side with a brand and model type.
