I have an HP DC7600 CMT with an HP 09Foh mobo currently running a Pentium 4 640 3.2Ghz CPU... it has a Socket PLGA775, Intel 945G/GZ chipset, 82801GB(ICH7/R) Controller & 82945G Memory Controller......

What is the max CPU I can put in this mobo? Seems to be a Pentium D960 or possibly a Core 2 Duo E6700...

It seems that the Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz E6700 (& others) with a 1066 FSB list compatibility with the 945G/GZ chipset... would they be faster than the Pentium D 960 3.6Ghz??

Please let me know what you think...

F.Y.I. After updating the Bios to V. 01.61, I bought a Pentium D 950 3.4Ghz on eBay and put it in. It works great... good for 35%-45% increase across the board on PT7!

Can you let me know which "sSpec Number" your PD 950 has? There seem to be three such viz. SL94P (B1), SL95V (C1) and SL9K8 (D0). How do I find out which one I need?
I want to replace the P4 630 on the 09F0h motherboard of my HP dc7600.
Regards. :)
