According to HP's support page, HP LaserJet IIISi, 4, 4M, 4Si, etc.
all use 72-pin, 36-bit SIMMs 70ns or slower. Are these
interchangable? IOW . . . if I can find RAM for any of these, is it
safe to assume it'll work in my HP4?

thx

Pretty much yes. It's the same as those used in most 486's and early
Penium computer as well. AFAIK LJ4 doesn't work with any module
bigger than 8MB and I don't think EDO would work either.

Fast page memory, not EDO, will work. HP also requires "Parity Detect"
and that largely means that Pin 11 is grounded.

See <http://www.shawnbehrens.de/hpmem.htm> which explains everything about this.
Some have claimed that you can use 16 or even 32 MB SIMMs, but 8 is certain.
