Question HP Notebook 15-ac168tx suddenly no power

Hi everyone,

My HP Notebook 15-ac168tx suddenly shut down two days ago and there are no signs of power left at all.

I had been running the laptop on mains (no battery) for a while and originally thought the power Jack had disconnected from the motherboard. But when I opened the laptop up, I couldn't see anything wrong with the connection.

I replaced the old CMOS battery with a new one but that didnt help either, and that's about the limit of my abilities.

Is it fixable? Or, if the whole motherboard is gone, worth fixing? Please ask for any more details that may be needed.

No. But there was a little fizzle, maybe a spark or maybe something in the fan, when it worked and I would move it. Or if I was doing anything demanding, like editing a video.

It never got overly hot, not that I noticed anyway. And yes, it is Completely Dead atm. I had a spare charger and tried that too, as well as a few different wall sockets, so think the problem can be isolated to the laptop. Somewhere.

Maybe the battery is dead. You should take battery of your laptop out, hold the power button for 30 seconds and try again. If it doesn't work, it might be the battery.

The laptop has been working without the battery for months, running straight from the charger.
