Hello all,

I have the following problem:

I recently bought a hp prodesk 400 g5 SFF with i5 8500 and installed a couple of ram sticks but it does not start.
When i press the power switch there is a white light for the hdd and it is illuminated while the button is on, then turns off and the pc does not start at all. No fans are spinning. Power button light does not illuminate at all.
I assume power supply is ok since there is a green light on the motherboard indicating there is power to the motherboard.

Things i have tried:
1. Removing all parts (ssd, ram etc.) with no result.
2. Removing the cpu which gave me cpu error (beeping + flashing lights). No results after resintalling.
3. Removing the cmos battery (no result)
4. Pressing the cmos button on motherboard (no result)
5. Shorting the pins from the power button (they are integrated to the motherboard, there is no connector) - No result, still just hdd light illuminated but nothing starts or spins.
6. Unplugging/Replugging all the power connectors (no result)

Can you give me any ideas as to what i can do or try more than what i have already tried.
It seems like the power button has some issues but I ran out of ideas of what more to try...
Please help.

Try and revert back to what the prebuilt came with, i.e, minus all the upgrades you'd performed. Adding a link or images to the rams you were trying to populate the slots with would help us two fold. Speaking of upgrades, how did you receive the prebuilt and what sort of upgrades did you perform besides the additional ram?

Prior top buying the used prebuilt, did you verify that it was in working condition?

Hello,

No, I bought it as a non working unit without any ram sticks. Ram is 2666mhz ddr4 2x8gb but does not work with or without it so the problem should be the button itself or the motherboard.
