Hi

I have a Windows 10 HTPC connected via HDMI to an Anthem MRX-720 A/V receiver. It been working fine until recently..

The issue occurs any time the HTPC goes to standby or is idle.. so what I have to do is go Control Panel >> Sound and as soon the sound panel appears the sound returns.
However, sometimes that does not work as all sound outputs are greyed out.. So in order to resolve that I have to go to Windows settings >> System >> Sound >> Troubleshooting and after 30 seconds of a "quick scan" the sound returns.

I'm sure you can appreciate that this very annoying to do every time the system is Idle so I would appreciate if you advise on how to resolve this problem.

Can you please state the make and model of your sound card? If it's bundled with your motherboard, stating the make and model of the motherboard will suffice. Please include the BIOS version for said motherboard as well as the version(not edition) of the OS that you're working with. Seems to me either the OS is corrupt or you simply need to reinstall your audio drivers, provided you're tethered to the motherboard's HDMI port and not your discrete GPU(?). If you're working with a discrete GPU, please state the make and model of said GPU.
