Some rather thick books have been written covering this subject.

An advantage must have a reference to a perceived inferior alternative.
A disadvantage needs to show deficiency in comparison to a superior alternative.

Advantage: XP was built on NT technology (the most rock-solid operating system ever made by Microsoft).
NT4 did not support accelerated 3D video, therefore XP is better.

Disadvantage: XP lacks the power to perform weather forecasting analysis on a global scale in a reasonable time, whereas the Cray XMP series computers did, and still do a reasonably accurate job at this task in a useful amount of time.
